The Underground Garden: Todo tiene su final

It’s solely sweet never bitter. Thank You Oddball Magazine, Chad Parenteau and Jason Wright for allowing me the pleasure of contributing via peaces and interviews to the masses for all of these years.

Last week’s #UNDERGROUNDGARDEN was the Pause. I’m fortunate to make the choice to shift gears and flow in another direction and I am grateful to every Muse and Interviewee.

Bob Diesel was to be this week’s feature. I can’t deny us his nuggets!! He auditioned for Miami Vice!! Join him, Keith DeViere Donaldson and Christopher Martin Grant of essence Boston this Saturday night as we celebrate a real Underground Vet. Your DJ Birthday Man, Mr. Diesel ♥!

First record bought:

When I was able to buy records with my own money bought quite a few but for that first purchase my favorite out of the bunch that day was Warp Factor II – Montana (Vince Montana)

First club attended:

Fresh 14

First DJ gig:

I don’t remember the exact place but it was for one of my relatives, it was one of those fraternal organizations. Most of my relatives were members like: The Eastern Stars, The Mason’s, The Lions Club, The Shriners, VFW, AMVETS etc.
But we were playing almost every weekend for parties and events held at their lodges.

First time you knew this was your path:

When I used listen to “The Chief Rocker” Frankie Crocker on WBLS FM 107.5 NYC, New York, he was a brilliant and innovating Urban Music programing director for the station as well as a DJ. He was actually a DJ and not an “On Air Personality” like nowadays and he actually hosted his own shows and introduced music from various genres that made things work for the listening audience. Monday to Friday 5pm – 7pm he would host the”After Work Set” and on Sunday afternoon he would host “The Sunday Salsa Show”. He attracted more listeners for that one show than all of the Latin Music stations combined in New Yor, his taste and variety hooked me.

Move to Boston story:

In 1987 went to audition for the TV Series “Miami Vice” with friends in March and sadly the day I was on set watching the filming an episode, one of the set directors announced that it was the last episode and will not be picked up. And so after a big let down my friends and I went to a nightclub Manhattan’s in Coco Beach an met a woman there and stayed in touch with her and after $3000 worth of phone calls I moved to Boston. Things went south between us but I kinda liked it in Boston so I stayed and because I met so many Boston DJ’s at the New Music Seminar when I lived in New York they helped with my career here with connections and gigs so it was good for me .

First DJ spot in Boston:

I’ve been a Guest DJ on many occasions done a lot of Guest Spots for in DJ’s in Boston but as a residency “Breaking Down The Walls” at M80 with Jide’Max “The Godfather of House Music” in Boston.

DJ gigs and parties you’ve had and created?

Breaking Down The Walls – 1992

Makin’ Movez – 2002

Peace I, II – 2003

Soul Revival WMC Return Party – 2006

1254 Underground – 2009

TRUTH (Boston) 2013 –

Art & Soul – 2012

Producer/Remixer background:

I learned most all of my skills from Arthur Baker at his studio Shakedown Sound in New York. He was a master with plenty of tricks to make your efficiency level high and make sounds better.

Why you’ve chosen these careers?

It’s just a step away from playing music the way it should be played to making it the way you think it should sound, it’s the endless creativity that’s that keeps me going.

Happiest moments on deck and dance floor?

As DJ’s our job is to create a mood and tell a story and lead you and take you on a journey to a musical soundscape. When I’m playing we try to relay messages through the music that I play to evoke feelings and emotion trying to get everyone together on the same page, when it happens it’s euphoric. However on the dancefloor you self-express those thoughts, feelings and emotion by simply just listening and hopefully through dance and another DJ does it and does it right it’s my high.

Sounds you gravitate towards when playing?

I mostly like Deep, Soulful, Jazzy, Funky and some obscure Left Field type sounds.

The Underground Garden: Honey Metal

Look the world in the eye it has no choice

Look the world in the eye
Heart to mind
Present the choice
To share a voice
Offer receive embolden love

All are a choice

I stole my opportunities
I smiled and ironed my shirt
I never wore a skirt
To distract you
Your excuse

Never liked any like you
So I rob you.

Of your senses
Never leave you guessing

Yeah that’s me at the table.

Fed.

With no need to use my legs.

I’ve broken spines with the look in my eyes.

Dare to try.

You go from looking down at me from behind a ledge
To avoiding my leg as I’m beside your shoulder

At the big folk closer.

Closer I’m colder
I’m a thief seen as just meat.

A lot of needers, wanters and thieves no offerers givers or leads
I’m on your side but not your team
We’re here to make money

I save dreams

You flash
I Western Union.

We’re not the same.

Give the world a piece of mind so you can keep your mind aligned with Dignity.
Murder or show pity

What a tricky World it seems

Attracting beams building hammering with bladed bats
The world presents like that

What’s your presence?
Chitter chat
I’m real present but not like wack
Cut yack

Laughs unify
Witnesses testify
You touch the sky

The world looks up to see your eyes
You’re too far gone rehyponitized
No fear no lies

Honey laced knives resting peacefully aside

By Choice
Presence presented a loving voice
By Choice
Etched calm breath
No noise

All poise

Reflected by the sea.

The Underground Garden: TEAMYOU!

Spiritual people

People,

I’ve only known
Chaos and sleep
My entire life

Life

Now that I am
Calm
and Awake

My real world so real

The rest I can’t fake and
Chaos I am not inspired to entertain
Create

Everything seems fine
Although it’s thin ice

I feel air beneath me
It’s all ground

I’m not used to the sound

Of silence

It’s a new dance
What kind of chance?

Spiritually enlightened?
Heightened?
In ritual aiming for what goals?
On what roads and with which bags in tow?

All of my life I’ve known

Sleep and Chaos
They’ve awakened me

Life is not a dream
Neither grounds for fantasy

Life is really happening.

That’s the spirit!
The peace and the calm are magnificent
The more envisioned
The deeper I go
More receipts

Serenity

From the presence sent
A stillness so moving

Keep moving

Until entranced
With open eyes

Take that step

Narrate connection

Every movement
A praise in daze

Amazed by the powerful pull
Push back
Into the pool

The peace and the calm

Are magnificent.

It’s The Spirit!

The Underground Garden: No Reasons for Bad Choices

A House of Love Homes In On Peace

There were situations where I
Could have been nicer
But should not have be nicer
De icer
Frost cool shade
I do not play games
Blow it back your way
Without a word to say
The room feels changed
Your confidence deranged
Direction rearranged
I should let it slide so you can stay in range
Of your point
Despite its wicked oint
Facing
Today
And
Tomorrow’s
Warriors
Leaders
Yesterday’s Victims
Risen
I should have been nicer but my laser is prism
Light cannot be hidden

To the dreams which were nightmares and the fears which were unfounded and the tears which since have dried and the smiles that longed for eternity and the habits who are no longer friends, I say NOTHING.

To the dreams which are shared, and the body with Life, Soulful laughter echoing through time recorded by eves and dawns, to the moments Truth Delivers and experience protects, to Courage, Wisdom, Strength and Union, I say STAY.

Continuation.
That’s my range.

Because love is not sadness
And there are no layaways
No come but just not stay
Once delivered
Love does not go away

Heed the word displayed.
Who I am shouldn’t harm you
I stand as I am
Why harm me
I ask nicely.

Love doesn’t have to be within the space between
Our exchange

That’s still okay
Yet watch how you display
What you do not say

How you
Romance
Magnetize aura with one glance

Be nice
It’s just one chance

“Allow your voice to speak love”
I could’ve thought
Now I recall

The hurts end here into abyss they fall

Spread the word
The world is changing.

We know, because we’ve grown the love within our homes.

House of Love Time Zone.

The future is different.

We listen after we speak to ensure clarity and reach before we complete the effort to understand your speech and its atom.

Flatline designed walls no echo clear mirrors no panes banderas in the wind welcome you.

A House of Love
Rebuilt

Welcomes You Too.

The world reflects what You Do.

Be kind to others and kinder to You.

The Underground Garden: Lady Alma at Home

On Sunday, January 20, 2019, the Men of H.O.M.E. (House of Musical Expression), DJ Bruno, Leo Alarcon and Househead Pete begin their 6th year of treating Boston to the Beat and welcome to the celebration DJ Mizont with a special live performance by Songwriter/Singer Supreme, Lady Alma!

H.O.M.E. began in 2012 after DJ Bruno’s brief retirement from DJing and his event, Utopia. He “felt like the night needed to keep going so rather than call it Utopia, I asked Househead Pete ‘What do you want to call the night?’ and Pete said HOME.” DJ Bruno called me to brainstorm on the night’s name based on its intention, to play “80% House and 20% everything in between because House doesn’t get a lot of love in the city of Boston” and we came up with the acronym “House of Musical Expressions.” H.O.M.E. arrives every holiday weekend with the next event scheduled for February 17th hosting the debut of DJ/Producer Mikki Afflick! “I’m just glad that we survived 6 years because it’s not easy to survive 6 months. We love our city and we love making people dance, Leo, Pete and I.”

LADY ALMA!

DJ Bruno first saw Lady Alma perform at the 2006 Winter Music Conference and thought “I have to bring her to Boston so this is like a dream come true.” For us all! Lady Alma shared her thoughts with us for which we are grateful. We hope you support her appearance in Boston and her music available on all digital formats!

“During my college days, House music was the music of choice.” After hearing her voice in 1997, King Britt featured Lady Alma on his When the Funk Hits the Fan album as part of the Sylk 130 Collective, and again on his follow up album, Re-Members Only with “Happiness.” Since then, Lady Alma has worked with a massive legion of producers as a songwriter and singer, has been awarded honors for her songwriting/singing gifts and talents and in 2018, she earned 2 Top 10 singles on Traxsource!

H.O.M.E. will certainly be Hashtag Blessed by Lady Alma’s soaring Spirit and Charm on January 20th! The Truth is on its Way!

You are a phenomenal vocalist and a motivational singer/songwriter. Your lyrics and delivery are a party in themselves. My first question is, How much do you enjoy ad-libbing?

LA: I’m the queen of ad-libs…they’re very fun!

Do you remember your first time singing over a House song in the studio for release? Was your transition from Gospel to House/Dance a learning experience? Did your melodies naturally align to the rhythms?

LA: This is an awesome question to ask me. My first time recording a House track release was with Mr. King Britt. As for the transition…I would say no. I’m a vocalist who is traditionally trained. I hear melodies the way a musician will hear it. I consider myself both a musician and a vocalist; which is why my melodies align for this reason.

When you write, who/what are your Muses?

LA: When I’m writing, I tend to use the energies that are around me during my writing sessions. This helps me to mold/shape what I’m going to compose.

Your songs are embraces. Who are songwriter-singers, such as yourself, who have inspired you lyrically and vocally.

LA: I’m inspired by people and life experiences.

What other musical genres do you grace?

LA: I embrace all genres as each element can be heard in my music.

Have you written for other singers?

LA: I haven’t at this moment, but would love to do so when the opportunity comes.

Are you willing to give us details regarding your 2019 solo release?

LA: I plan to give my fam [fans] something they will enjoy and to stay tuned!

Thank you again Ms. Horton. And I know Boston is looking forward to your appearance and Live Music!! There is nothing like a singer bringing their hits live! Congratulations on all of your deserving recognition and Thank You for giving us so much joy!

LA: Thank you for the well wishes and for highlighting me in your publication!

Here is your pre-game mix by DJ Bruno! If you’re looking for a time of celebration, enormous talent and passion, beautiful people and a place to lift your voice, join H.O.M.E. on Sunday, January 20th, at Machine Nightclub, 1254 Boylston Street, Boston. This is a 21+ event and tickets are $10 before 11 p.m. and $15 after. Party begins at 10 p.m.! Thank You H.O.M.E. and Lady Alma <3!

The Underground Garden: Reminder

On the other side of time is time more time more everything said and done is permanent.
Permanently recorded by time
The past is now, the future now, the now is past, the past is future, the now is future,
The what is where in time?
Permanent.
Actions tell time
Half a second changes time
Ten minutes ago changes time
An hour from now has already changed by every second gone it’s time
We are stamped by time
Every line designed by time in life
Every cross in minds
Every right or left
Every spoken breath
Every withheld sound
Every tilted crown
Every rescued frown
Every knee on ground
Every finger up
Every teardrop
Every last hug
Every injected drug
Every cover up
Every demon released
Every angel received
Every moment since time has been timed
Time is on the other side of time
Life is everything in time
Life is designed to tick tock to eventually stop but not time
Every action taken
Every word spoken
Every bad deed
Every good seed
Every every speed changes time but time remains
The realities are what aren’t the same
Time is infinite so are actions.
Self-inflicted murder
Intentional deaths
Never knowing love to any depth
Self-saving bravery in the face of time
Knowing time has left your time behind
Seeing time before you as a moment in time
Trying to live the highest life
Trying to escape your time.
You are infinite. You are time.
Everything is permanent. Everything is timed.
Endings are a lie.
Every last breath is recorded in time
Every first cry is recorded in time
Every goodbye has changed time
Every greeting has changed lives.
Lives in time
Time is life and if you spend your seconds wasting time then youve given time the reason to speed up.
You’ve given time the power to wake you up and realize
Time is on the other side of time and time is its own design.
You are infinite and momentarily alive.
You are infinite and Godlike wise.
Time time time time
Is yours to devise
Time is yours so rise
Time is yours to divide
Become whole in time
Time times out when you last close your eyes
But time keeps alive everything you said and did with your time.
You are infinite. Your line is your design.
You break from the cord and take the reigns of life
Eventually you see time is constant
Then you should decide what it means to you, Time
There you should drink what you were meant to brew, Life.
Poison not a stream, a dream, or your own Cup.
The greatest gift we will ever know is TIME.
Live it Up as it winds down
Rise your Cup and pour down for the time that’s passed for the time that’s now for the time you will never know but your actions will be present in.
You are infinite.
INFINITE.
Ask the past which lasts.
Time
