Imagine if you were gracious with your blessings
If you called in the
Hungry child
The fearful woman
The anxious man
If you bestowed for no validation
The tools another needs
And their disappearance only meant
They were Freed
Imagine if you returned to the village
Without a flash
Opened your satchel
And dropped seeds
Imagine if your candles burned for the unknown and a miracle was born
Imagine if you thought of the slaughtered
Shielded our neighbors with protection
Named the corrupted and returned their harm
On karma’s scale
Imagine if you knew justice this well
The laws of souls
Imagine if you loved El Barrio
And respected the struggle
Prayed on the hustle
Imagine if you Honored your Elders
Sought their wisdom
Fed their bodies
Offered ease and health
A presence
Imagine if you heard the children
Through their curious wonder
Find their fear and hand them Fey
Whisper reflection into their eyes
Remind their mind
Their now is the future and they are the future
Imagine if you esteemed the youth with trust
Imagine if you loved
Imagine if your conversations were not of yourself
Only
Your lineage only
Your Egungun only
Your desires only
Your fears only
Your dreams only
Imagine if you were gracious
With your blessings.
