My heart is full.
My future renewed.
My eyes are tired.
My dreams are new.

You make me want
to write songs
when I have time to.

I want to be
a better me
even if I don’t
have time to
read self-
improvement books
or do gym routines,
or drink eight
glasses of water
and count calories.

Even if I can’t
get out to Krav Maga
and might not get
to planet fitness,
I get to be your dad.
And that makes
all the difference.

And I am sure things
will even out in time.
I bet. I guess.
Who knows.

I might be
a sappy writer now.
Someday I suppose,
like a mighty
mighty bosstone,
I will get out
to the crowd,
rock out loud.

But right now,
I am too tired
to rock the crowd.
