In this new series for Oddball Magazine, cartoonist George Panagooulos and poet Chad Parenteau will take political cartooning and mix it with light (and not so light) politically charged verse inspired (sometimes loosely) by the illustration, sometimes maybe even in opposition to it. This will be an experimental venture with words and pictures, which might be intertwined more so in the future. Don’t forget to give us your feedback, both “likes” and “dislikes” (though there is no button for the latter).

Marajuana for medical aid
now offers a faustian trade
To take drag of one
you must give up your gun.
Most mellow folk call that fair trade.

To take guns from those who smoke pot
might not be very well thought
leting smokers keep arms
might raise some alarms
till we realize they’ll become worse shots.

In youth, the prez smoked this and
and yet shame’s still attached to that.
Forget admonition,
let’s revamp new traditions,
make the world’s greatest fireside chat!

Let’s hope this is the final draw
before we all end the pot war.
In a haze, I’ll evoke
Judge Dredd lighting a toke
declaring it now is “THE LAW!”
