Drums fade in the background.
The sound hits my ears,
and I start.

The cymbals, the spark.
I can feel the seas part.
I can feel my shattered heart
rebuilding.

Leaping from building to building,
I see something that can’t be seen.
Shocked by the scene, by green insects,
a hornet’s nest, I play with.

Stung in the mouth.
I still sing.

I can’t sharpen a needle
and not let it in.
I can make something freeze and melt
in the same rhythm.

Strum my heart strings.
I can hear your heart beating.

It sounds like freedom.
