I think you already know what I am about to rant about so, let’s cut to the chase.
Several generations of my family come from that “shithole.”
A rich and vibrant culture was birthed from that “shithole.”
Some of the dopest food you will ever eat came from that “shithole.”
Some of the dopest music ranging from family friendly tunes to the type of shit that makes babies happen came from that “shithole.”
Two thirds of the critically acclaimed hip hop group The Fugees came from that “shithole.”
A portion of G-Unit (Tony Yayo) came from that “shithole.”
The president of the American branch of Nintendo came from that “shithole.”
(You’re damn right, Reggie Fils-Aimé is Haitian as fuck!)
I can spend an entire evening telling you all the amazing things that came from the country Trump has the nerve to call a shithole.
Haiti ain’t perfect at the moment; if you study your history you’d know that all the shit that has happened to that country Trump calls a shithole was not our fault.
This isn’t the first time Haitians have had to put up with this shit and sadly it won’t be the last. You can call it fake news all you want but, no one in the White House is denying it was said.
I just want to know something, Why do Trump supporters stand by this shit? Why do people constantly defend blatant racism? The same people who claim that racism is dead and that we’re trying to start a race war are the same motherfuckers who are willing to stand by this guy every time he says something like this.
How can you even defend this? It’s purely un-American.
I haven’t ranted about Trump in a very long time, but this really rubbed me the wrong way. I may not be fluent in Kreyol, I haven’t been to Haiti since I was two, but I’m pretty fucking proud to call that “shithole” my country.
I guess the real question at the end of the day is, where does this all end?
You ever look at the state of things in this country and wonder if there’s ever a light at the end of all this? Is there any way to win at all in this?
We’ve got a president who has no regard for the very people whose sweat, blood, and tears actually built this country. We’ve got people willing to defend that said president every time he says or does something that infringes on the rights of people who don’t look like him, or his base.
Most of the time I just keep my mouth shut when people say the most ridiculous things in defense of this pissant we call a president because I feel it would be the equivalent of yelling at an adult with the reasoning of a three year old.
Some days I do feel inspired to speak out against the bullshit of others only to be reminded of why I didn’t waste any energy in the first place.
I wonder why I still have a Facebook some days and wonder if anyone would miss me if I decided to not use it.
I just feel so defeated some days because we as a country take a few steps forward just to take a giant leap back like a game of Chutes n’ ladders where you get towards the end just to land on that final slide that takes you down from 90 back to 26.
I read all the comments in defense of Trump’s comments only to realize that everyone seems to miss the point of why people are so outraged in the first place. I just feel so defeated right now; like, what the fuck’s the point in even trying to explain Trump’s bigotry to people who are only willing to see it as “putting America first?”
I’m going to hopefully not have to write about this shit again because there are better things to write about, I just needed to vent.
