Burnt Offerings

Returning to a place I love
This view from on high
Looking for the strength in beauty and truth
Looking for lift-off into the blue
How much time does anyone have to enjoy beautiful things
And did I forget to put change in the meter?

The wind is a little bit wild today
And My lungs are laboring
Under some burden I can’t relieve
But the sun is shining
The birds are whispering beneath the breeze
And for now I’m still here
Headache and all

The sadness is not sweet
The pain is not salty
My mind is not peaceful
But life goes on in sadness
In pain, and without peace

Choking back the fear

I wish I could rise above
Far above
Higher than this window
