All Things Made & Unmade

what remains is still at least bronze
and tested with fire
though often forgotten, grown corrosive green

there are still dreams of old heroes
and visions vivid, ecstatic, playing on the walls
molded and incubated under our boiling spring

inside i see the hidden mechanism itself
wanting to be golden
feverish, and too hungry for its own good

will our fractured totem be claimed and recognized
shining from within, calling to be remedied and
released from what seems like centuries of unrest

sometimes our blood runs like this
and satisfaction comes only with the tune
of a silver string pulled gently and easily at night

morning comes quickly and the songs
remind us that we cannot control the colors
seen and unseen, both ripe and still blooming
