The LAWNMOWER at one in the morning

The quad in which I live.
The roommate, who speaks obnoxiously,
loudly, about his lawnmower, over the phone.

DID YOU TRY REFILLING IT WITH GAS?

It is one in the morning.
I have an 8AM tomorrow morning.
The bumbling roommate throws the lights on
and LOUDLY SPEAKS ABOUT THE LAWNMOWAH
with his mother.

Jesus J. Christ, the nerve of this bastard.

This insensitive old man trapped in a freshman’s body,
looks over me, notices I’m trying to sleep,
AND CONTINUES SPEAKING ABOUT HIS FUCKING LAWNMOWER.

I look over to the other, recently awoken roommate.
We share a momentary tired squint, and pull pillows over our heads,
trying to find sleep.
