40 Weight Universe

Tar baby mirror
without windows, light or gravity
whether i walk or swim
breathe through my mouth or my soles

i put my hands together and only feel one
opening like a raisin
smell pine, molasses, ocean
waking to fresh 2 by 4s
several bicycle chains from the ceiling

Tar baby debit card
now that cash is criminal
the abandoned car had over 10 thousand pennies in it
banks only let you in to borrow

a rabbit-squirrel, a rat-crow, goose-gull
the only jeans i want to manipulate are hers
clothes so black dont know if theyre on or off
my left foot takes the floor with it

Scar baby, guitar babylon,
the same note in every language
a key without a lock
uterus coastline
the stained windows of jonahs whale

we crawl through the black sand
the licorice, poppy seeds, ripe olives and eels
when night and clouds are the same color & density

Light and rain avoid where i’m cut
blood so sludgy rich with oxygen, started out green
my skin rises fresh with the sun that seldom stops here
tar baby solar system
tar baby breath

Richie Montgomery: “My philosophical surrealistic drawings are known for their unique twist on life and our perspective of it. The “hidden in plain sight” details of my work are ruminants of the great masters like M.C. Escher and Salvador Dali. I have been drawing my entire life and have had no formal training other than just my own desire to create from the time I could hold a crayon or pencil. I enjoy many different types of art yet surrealism holds my passion the most.”
