Pt. 2
had a dream about you again last night
none of your songs sounded the same
I cut my hair off and gave it to you as a present you never asked for
it kept growing
and we weren’t built out of backhanded backdoor compliments
love poems constructed as like poems
I still longed to climb your architecture
I look like birthday cake and when can I start bleeding?
wanna stop being just a new york thing
spilled salsa on my sheets till it looked like blood
I do this once a year
when will your job bring you back to the city?
I fold once a year
treat my mouth like a vacuum for all the details I can find
and you say, I wish we could inhabit a world without sirens
I cut you off repeating, I don’t want to be just your new york thing
I am so ready to leave this all behind
