Foreign or Domestic

Dear Lord, Dear Jesus,
the one who felt the slightest touch
through the hem of seamless garment
and responded with healing word
to the hurt that cries for help

Open our eyes
help us to truly hear
bring our hearts into accord with yours
so we experience your love
      supporting us
          bearing us up the stairs
              carrying us across the common
everywhere we look
everything we hear
all that we feel
service everywhere we go
relationship all that is real

Bless the life all around us
bless the faces we pass every day
bless the survivors of past struggle
bless the walking wounded of the wars
bless all those who cannot find the way home
bless the hurt of terror and war
bless all who served or now serve the nation
bless the wounds of mind, body and spirit
and heal the division that invariably is caused by war

Bring our troops home
heal their hurt
heal America
grant us peace
as you brought peace to empire in your own time

Thank you, Jesus, for all who have gone before.     Amen.
