It’s not as if there’s anything surprising
that a sociopathic fool would seize controls
and attempt to impose his personal plans
on a Republic dilapidated by serial horror
movie shows of large scale abuses of power
Watergate becomes Iran-contra becomes
Bush-Cheney regime punctuated by sighs
of relief after each full monty acting out
episode of torture, murder, mass surveillance
by cries of the system worked oh, golly gee
I’m just looking forward never looking back
(a look back not even allowed heavens forbid)
we’re just so institutionally strong don’t you
know that there is nothing we can’t do all
along those watch towers of accountability
torturous murderous occupation invasions
of humanity, of personal space, of, yes, life
until finally we find the ONE (guy of course)
whose every word and gesture is a total tell
clueless reprobate outing the serial hypocrites
