Heard a weird but familiar noise
at my front door this morning.
Decided to check it out.

One of the neighbors was shoveling
snow off the sidewalk
An impressive amount already fell

and was continuing to fall
at steady pace,
confirming forecaster’s prediction.

Lesson learned. Snow falls
when it falls despite my hopes,
dreams and today’s “to do” list.

You see,
snow is stronger
than denial.
