My Country

Country shredded.
We were already in pieces,
didn’t think they
could get smaller
But, given where we are,
how we got here,
it’s amazing we can be
whole at all!
So many angry voices
shouting at God.

Which do you choose?
To walk the path of the righteous
or to be humble?
To defend the rights of all
or just those who believe as you do?
Do you find comfort if not pleasure
in damning others to hell
because they don’t see the world
as you see it?
Do you secretly adore your mirror?
Are your decisions based
on facts or fiction?
Can you even tell the difference?
And does it matter?
Are you even willing
to be willing?
