The people didn’t change,
guided by their greed now
as those before them.
However, they choose to
rename their greed, to make it
more palpable for their children
and their children’s children.
God knew and understood
that this greed had
displaced their spirit.
But these people believed
that they had a greater power,
greater than that of their god
and would settle for nothing less.
Sadly, they were consumed
by their own wants
and the wants of those before them.
They came to believe
they possessed the ability
to destroy anything
that God could provide.
And so it was
They actually believed
all actions were justified
if committed in the name
of the God they created
for themselves and those
who would follow.
