Oddball Magazine is proud to welcome our friends at JP Lime Productions and introduce the hard hitting and well crafted talents of the JP Lime crew. We hope that bringing JP Lime to our readers and fan base will not only enlighten and entertain but also inform on the latest hip hop entertainment news.

This week’s twist comes from JP Lime’s Ivan De Jesus, who shared its origin with us. “It’s a poem I wrote about 17 years ago amidst battles with depression. Though dark and depressive in nature, writings like these and several others from that time period helped me cope with my demon and allowed me to air out a lot of that negative energy which plagued me at the time. Writing poetry wasn’t the only thing that helped me conquer depression, but it certainly was a big piece of the equation.”

One simple wish…
Let me be dead for a day…
Let me observe my funeral & watch everyone pray…
Let me watch them cry, wishing I hadn’t died…
Let me see the pain & remorse in their eyes…
Let me hear them say, “he was such a great guy.”
“Ivan, he didn’t deserve to die.”
Let me watch them watch me, lying peacefully in my casket…
Let me smell the flowers in my flower basket…
Let me feel them feel me, so stiff & cold…
As is this world for which so much animosity I hold…
Let me ponder why, it takes a man to die…
For people to visit and come say hi…
Or rather goodbye, but a tad bit late…
They should’ve come visit before my wake…
Let me ponder why, it takes a man to die…
For people to love me…
Where was Love when I was alive?
If Death brings Love, then who needs Life?
Who needs all the turmoil and strife?
Let me die for a day & leave it all behind…
Cut off my head so I can clear my mind…
No worries, no troubles, just Resting in Peace…
Let me be dead for a day, 24 Hours of Bliss, at least…
