This Modern Torso of the Universe
by R. Lee Ubicwedas
“nor pulse, as quasars flare”
—Mary Jane Myers
We’ll never know its mythic fame—extremely luminous—
that active, starlike object and galactic nucleus,
that compound region at the center of that galaxy,
emitting a significant amount of energy,
across the spectrum, showing that its candelabra’s glow,
includes x-rays and ultraviolet wavebands, and more,
th’ accretion at a supermassive black-hole’s central crux,
th’ electrical-magnetic radiation all in flux;
in each place that this quasar finds your thoughts, absorb its strife;
for there is no escape from it. You must reform your life.
R. Lee Ubicwedas is a poet of Ubiquity. Mary Jane Myers is a contemporary poet and proset.

Hermann Hesse on Rainer Maria Rilke.
by Ewald E. Eisbruc
Remarkable—his journey—Rilke’s—from sacred oak and pine tree,
from th’ youthful music of Bohemian folk poetry…
to Orpheus. Remarkable—his mastery of form—
increasing, penetrating, deeper into his life’ storm…
And at each stage, now and again, the miracle occurs,
his delicate and hesitant anxiety appears,
withdraws, and through him, sounds the music of the Universe,
where he becomes a fountain’s base, both instrument and ear.
Ewald E. Eisbruc is a poet of German music. Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926) was a Modernist German poet and proset mentioned in this poem and behind the tennos above. Hermann Hess (1877-1962) was also a Modernist German poet and proset.

A Chariot of Fire
by Esecwiel Barud
Behold, a chariot of fire arose,
and fiery horses charged into the sky.
Elisha saw Elijah go up by
a whirlwind into heaven. Lo, he glows.
“My father, oh, my father, there he goes.
The chariots of Israel on high.”
Elisha said this, and began to cry;
and once Elijah went, he rent his clothes.
Esecwiel Barud is a poet of the Levant. Elisha and Elijah were prophets of the Northern Kingdom.

The Blue Rider
by Red Was Iceblue
Out of the horror and violence of the new
century, the Twentieth, came the Blue Rider,
developing, galloping, and jumping into
the World, in flight, colorful—certainly, brighter
too, and more abstract, leaving behind, in the War’s
wake, August Macke, Franz Marc, many a fighter
striving to set, and thereby achieving, a course
wherein the visions seen would make a kind of sense,
whether it be a red deer or a large blue horse
passing by standing people fading into dense
colors. Who knew what trenches they were going to
where poisoned air hovered over barbed-wire fences?
No Longer
by Uwe Carl Diebes
No longer
at life’s middle,
hanging with the golden pears,
and wild roses,
I am dangling
at the water—there.
The air is fresh.
I see the swans.
They dip their long necks down.
They grab the mollusks
clinging to wet, vegetative ground.
They kiss small fish,
the wiggling worms,
perhaps a swimming frog.
The grass is also beautiful
beside a mossy log.
When winter comes,
where will I find
the flowers and the light?
Where will the holy shadows be
that offered me this sight?
These walls are speechless,
cold and vain.
The rattling weathervanes
are clattering
in sightless winds
along these lonely lanes.
Uwe Carl Diebes is a poet of Germany. Hölderlin (1770-1843) was a German Romantic poet.

Falling Wall
by Red Was Iceblue
The painting Falling Wall by Leonard Rosoman
now hangs in th’ Imperial War Museum.
It is the memory of but one so-so man—
the Blitz, December 1940. You see them—
two fighters with a hose—attempting to put out
the firestorm raging all around—a requiem
to those who fought and died, for those who tried but bowed.
A dark diagonal divides the painting’s space,
while bits of burning blobs are scattered ill about.
The two still struggle on. You can’t see either face.
Who can withstand such powerful forces? Oh, no, man.
But here one can observe that fight, at least a trace.
Red Was Iceblue is a poet on Modernist, PostModernist, and NewMillennial art. August Macke (1887-1914) and Franz Mark (1880-1916) were Modernist German painters. Leonard Rosoman (1913-2012) was a PostModernist British painter.

Jack London
by Usa W. Celebride
John Griffith Chaney in his leather coat
sits by his papers with his tough guy smile.
One comments, “Ain’t he like a weathered goat?
His boat is easy, yep, to rock and rile.”
He’s filled with contradictions, ghosts and guile.
Another asks, “How does he keep afloat?
He may be popular, but he is vile;
and Wolf House burnt before it got a moat.”
He crawls across the earth much like a stoat,
who on the outside looks like he’s in style;
but in his guts he’s filled with ruts and bile
and has a croaking frog caught in his throat.
It’s interesting now to stop and note
he was a Social Darwinist the while.
Usa W. Celebride is a poet of American literature. Jack London (1876-1916) was a noted American proset.

A Solemn Sonnet
by War di Belecuse
He was a US Army dentist during World War II,
assigned a front-line surgeon in the Battle of Saipan.
When Japanese began to overrun his hospital,
he pressed the fast evacuation of his wounded care.
No hope for his survival, he…grabbed an M1 Garand,
and stood the enemy assault into his set-up tent.
He stayed nearby, where men had died at their machine gun site,
proceeding then to kill some ninety-eight before he died,
his body having taken seventy-six bullet shots,
as well as twenty-four or more knife stabs while still alive.
Ben Lewis Solomon received his country’s top award
for heroism, after it was due—Two-Thousand-Two,
when his whole family was dead. His parents never knew.
But we who love America remember this brave man.
The War Against Terror
by War di Belecuse
The war against terror is eternal.
One must fight the holocaust’s harbingers
with every fiber of one’s being. There’s
no rest from forces of the infernal,
who attack truth’s believers diurnal-
ly. Like low-flying, circling scavengers,
the evil harpies seek out earth’s angels
to feed their wild, burning, churning charnel.
War di Belecuse is a poet of war. Ben Lewis Solomon (1914-1944) was one of hundreds of thousands of American who died during World War II.

An Urban Setting
by Urbawel Cidese
The buildings tower high above the city streets.
The many bridges cross the river running through.
There are so many sections, areas, and beats,
so many sidewalks, curbs, and corners in the view.
A hundred thousand people live and work and play
within this urban jungle, climbing to the sky.
It’s just another twenty-four hours, a day.
It’s just another setting picture in the eye.
Urbawel Cidese is a poet of urban spaces.
