SILENCE

When the clock strikes midnight
Wherever you’re at
All the loss of this time will stay on your back
You can pray the first second won’t be like the last
We’ve collectively shared heartbreak
By the second second
This will remain fact
I mourn for your losses
I know death very well
I cry for your hearts
Sobs cause chests to rise and to swell
Grief unites family
The common bond
Are Angels in form our planet has lost
Resolutions and good times
Yes
We deserve
Yet the times we are exiting
By the third second
Will have returned
It’s a limbo requiring that we all learn
How precious time is
From the moment of birth
There will be differences
It’s felt in the hurt
There will be evolution
It’s felt in the surge
Of love, optimism, courage and earth
The spirits of our transitioned tethered to our work
Their examples and truths
Reminders of our worth
Their voices and actions
Healed and ended
Every met curse
By the fourth second we will shift to rebirth
Honoring our pain
Our heartbreak
With pause and with words
Like prayers
Their names
And songs for their souls
By the 12th hour
Reality returns

This road before us
Will be paved just the same
Our pace, travel gear
Companions and destination
Will lead us ahead of the look of the road
What we see before us
Will be ignored
We don’t trust the map
We trust the memory of those whose breath won’t exhale counsel
In which way to go
Their voice now a whisper guiding through soul
Innumerable losses
Each one so Grand
In honor of their transitions
We create brand new lands
While thanking the sands
For allowing the crossing of paths
And not watching or counting the seconds to escape the past
But living intentionally in the future to honor the past
Prayers for the ones who at midnight will remember a love that will last
Beyond calendars
And man made clock hands.
