On Sunday, January 20, 2019, the Men of H.O.M.E. (House of Musical Expression), DJ Bruno, Leo Alarcon and Househead Pete begin their 6th year of treating Boston to the Beat and welcome to the celebration DJ Mizont with a special live performance by Songwriter/Singer Supreme, Lady Alma!

H.O.M.E. began in 2012 after DJ Bruno’s brief retirement from DJing and his event, Utopia. He “felt like the night needed to keep going so rather than call it Utopia, I asked Househead Pete ‘What do you want to call the night?’ and Pete said HOME.” DJ Bruno called me to brainstorm on the night’s name based on its intention, to play “80% House and 20% everything in between because House doesn’t get a lot of love in the city of Boston” and we came up with the acronym “House of Musical Expressions.” H.O.M.E. arrives every holiday weekend with the next event scheduled for February 17th hosting the debut of DJ/Producer Mikki Afflick! “I’m just glad that we survived 6 years because it’s not easy to survive 6 months. We love our city and we love making people dance, Leo, Pete and I.”

LADY ALMA!

DJ Bruno first saw Lady Alma perform at the 2006 Winter Music Conference and thought “I have to bring her to Boston so this is like a dream come true.” For us all! Lady Alma shared her thoughts with us for which we are grateful. We hope you support her appearance in Boston and her music available on all digital formats!

“During my college days, House music was the music of choice.” After hearing her voice in 1997, King Britt featured Lady Alma on his When the Funk Hits the Fan album as part of the Sylk 130 Collective, and again on his follow up album, Re-Members Only with “Happiness.” Since then, Lady Alma has worked with a massive legion of producers as a songwriter and singer, has been awarded honors for her songwriting/singing gifts and talents and in 2018, she earned 2 Top 10 singles on Traxsource!

H.O.M.E. will certainly be Hashtag Blessed by Lady Alma’s soaring Spirit and Charm on January 20th! The Truth is on its Way!

You are a phenomenal vocalist and a motivational singer/songwriter. Your lyrics and delivery are a party in themselves. My first question is, How much do you enjoy ad-libbing?

LA: I’m the queen of ad-libs…they’re very fun!

Do you remember your first time singing over a House song in the studio for release? Was your transition from Gospel to House/Dance a learning experience? Did your melodies naturally align to the rhythms?

LA: This is an awesome question to ask me. My first time recording a House track release was with Mr. King Britt. As for the transition…I would say no. I’m a vocalist who is traditionally trained. I hear melodies the way a musician will hear it. I consider myself both a musician and a vocalist; which is why my melodies align for this reason.

When you write, who/what are your Muses?

LA: When I’m writing, I tend to use the energies that are around me during my writing sessions. This helps me to mold/shape what I’m going to compose.

Your songs are embraces. Who are songwriter-singers, such as yourself, who have inspired you lyrically and vocally.

LA: I’m inspired by people and life experiences.

What other musical genres do you grace?

LA: I embrace all genres as each element can be heard in my music.

Have you written for other singers?

LA: I haven’t at this moment, but would love to do so when the opportunity comes.

Are you willing to give us details regarding your 2019 solo release?

LA: I plan to give my fam [fans] something they will enjoy and to stay tuned!

Thank you again Ms. Horton. And I know Boston is looking forward to your appearance and Live Music!! There is nothing like a singer bringing their hits live! Congratulations on all of your deserving recognition and Thank You for giving us so much joy!

LA: Thank you for the well wishes and for highlighting me in your publication!

Here is your pre-game mix by DJ Bruno! If you’re looking for a time of celebration, enormous talent and passion, beautiful people and a place to lift your voice, join H.O.M.E. on Sunday, January 20th, at Machine Nightclub, 1254 Boylston Street, Boston. This is a 21+ event and tickets are $10 before 11 p.m. and $15 after. Party begins at 10 p.m.! Thank You H.O.M.E. and Lady Alma <3!
