In this new series for Oddball Magazine, cartoonist George Panagooulos and poet Chad Parenteau will take political cartooning and mix it with light (and not so light) politically charged verse inspired (sometimes loosely) by the illustration. This will be an experimental venture with words and pictures, which might be intertwined more so in the future. For now, enjoy the first offering. Don’t forget to give us your feedback, both “likes” and “dislikes” (though there is no button for the latter).

The star of this first column’s show
is Chris Christie. What do I know?
I look at the man
and think of Copland
if Stallone let himself further go.

When tossing Chris Christie’s scores ’round,
his approval ratings seemed sound.
But suspect conspir’cy
to keep folks in Jersey?
Somebody’s gonna go down!

The Chris Christie fall’s almost sad
His stance on Gay rights’ not too bad.
Thanks to media slop
he’s a bull in the shop
who makes Jersey Shore look like GLADD.

Keep throwing Chris Christie around
His moves make a big booming sound
It drowns out the moans
’bout torture and drones
and keeps blinding mud slinging ’round.
