Oh look at the time, it’s time to rant!

Why is it such a big deal that the Patriots gave Trump a Super Bowl ring?

I honestly don’t give a shit about that Brady/Trump relationship. I don’t change the channel to CBS/FOX/NBC/ESPN at 1pm/4:25pm/8:30pm/8:30pm Monday/8:25pm Thursday because of a player’s political views/ties. I park my ass on the couch to watch one of the greatest sports of all time, to be entertained and, most importantly, to escape.

Football is one of many escapes I have from the hardships of life for which I have many. After a really rough week it’s awesome to sit in my man cave with shelled peanuts, chips and, Shipyard Pumpkinhead to watch the Pats play really stellar football and sometimes not-so-stellar football.

I wish politics never enter sports in the first place, but Tom had to have that hat in his locker and Kaepernick had to kneel during the anthem, so now we’re here.

They’re both very well within their rights to do the things they did. One just happens to benefit so much from privilege that we’re willing to sweep it under the rug quicker. I will remind people of this though: the Patriots/Trump connection spans as far back as that first Super Bowl ring and, maybe even further than that.

I really don’t like Trump but as I’ve mentioned in a similar post, loyalty is EVERYTHING to me. I’d be throwing way more shade at Brady, Kraft and, Belichick if they decided to cut ties with Trump because they actually gave a fuck what we thought.

One of the biggest reasons the Pats are as successful as they are is because they don’t give a single flying fuck what we think; they do them, hush the noise and, just play football good enough to warrant more than 12 AFC East titles, 7 AFC Championship trophies and 5 Vince Lombardi trophies. Anything else is a mere distraction and this just happens to be one of them.

As much as I don’t like Trump, I respect the hell out of Brady’s loyalty. If everyone practiced that kind of loyalty, I and many others wouldn’t have trust issues.

Stay classy y’all…
