Stone Soup Servings is a regular series for Oddball Magazine that features upcoming performers at Stone Soup Poetry, the long-running spoken word venue in the Boston area that has partnered with Oddball Magazine. Stone Soup Poetry now meets from 7-9 p.m. every Monday at the Out of The Blue Art Gallery at 541 Massachusetts Avenue in Central Square Cambridge, Massachusetts. The open mike sign-up at 6:30 p.m.

Poet and playwright Gemma Cooper-Novack will be featuring on August 8 as part of her farewell to Boston. We hope you are in the audience for this special feature. A recent poem is below.

It’s one of those months where I know before
it’s done I won’t
hold a bit of it, won’t be able to pin a single
second to my calendar and say yes
that happened here. Every too-hot breath
in this room is my own,
thickening the ceiling until a fingernail layer
dulls the white paint, changes the furniture
into old men who clack artificial teeth
over and over by my ears
and ask how the hell I’m doing.
