Culinary Curiosity
Satiating flavors and textures
Moods enhanced, depression waves bye-bye
The beat of a Beach Boys tune moves the cook
He slices onions, peppers, tomatoes
His knife is a drumstick
The cutting board a drum kit
Pumpkins, cantaloupe, pears, oranges, and apples
Await their fate to be decimated
And absorbed by the family
A tea kettle shakes to a schizophrenic boil
Cup of chamomile to relax and soothe these nerves
The fridge is a collage of pictures
Famous paintings, the Eiffel Tower being constructed
A list of meals planned for the week
Aloo Gobi tonight
A checkered towel is draped over the oven door handle
Handmade clay jar stores popcorn kernels
The coffee machine awaits its fix
To brew
My wife’s avocado painting stares at me
It was her wedding present to us
We are one avocado split in half
To be made whole again
She knows me more than anyone else
God only know what I’d be with out you
The kids highchairs are vacant
When my family returns from the playground
We’ll eat
