Darkness of Now
In another life
I was walking along
a sunny shaded
verdant fragrant
sidewalk
everything in motion
heels clicking,
knees bounding,
hips pivoting
and eyes reveling
I was flowing
in the mighty
stream of time,
the minutes like pirouettes,
the hours like ripples
all my days wrapped
around me,
like cool water
over smooth stones
In another life
I was faithful
to ideas,
absorbed
by the smoky
curl of burning
justice upon a
principle
In that life I had many words
But few experiences
Few trials
But countless convictions
Endless possibility
Without the slightest opportunity
Oh, what limitless dreams
One dreams of when
Gazing from the darkness of now
Into the cozy glow of then.
