Haiku: Three Riffs on a Dirge
Long-faced leaders weep dry tears.
Victims lie silent.
Life’s start, defense debate,
Freedom, uncontrolled, law’s anger, stalls,
Surprised – guns end lives.
Body count rolls like
Tide, bullets on hallowed ground,
Faster than COVID
Vincent F. A. Golphin writes and teaches in Central Florida, where guns are easier to find than orange trees.
Eric N. Peterson is from Atlanta, Ga. He’s been drawing cartoons all his life. He leans towards the absurd, imaginative, and the surreal, as that’s where all the flavor is.
