Cooking dinner alone

Please relieve my evening
    of motto, immodesty, and screen
of steamed, stubborn broccoli
    of hypnotic, hygienic routine.

I stand tallest in the pantry.
    What does that leave me?
Even the cheese melts fetal in heat
so it can spread and smoke so loudly.

I could versify pornographic distraction
or bend the wheat real funny
but there’s all this room on the tile for action:
drop an egg and see if it’s runny.
