A Handsome Corpse
One man made a pass.
Another asked if my mom
was going to take in boarders.
All conversations heard,
if you can believe it,
at my father’s funeral.
All the while my father
smiled from inside his casket,
as if he actually
heard these conversations.
Yes, my father was the rarest
of souls — a handsome,
smiling corpse.

I am working on a third book of exclusively travel narratives, Poems from a Restless Traveler.”
