WHCD 2026

I am watching the whole thing,
                                            live.
He sits there, the usual goofy
                                            half-grin
on his drooping face while Melania’s
                                            jaw drops
and the magician beside her,
                                            Oz-something,
holds up a piece of scribbled-on paper,
                                            the solution
to whatever magic trick he was
                                            performing,
and stares wide-eyed out into
                                            the room,
a look of horror, fright on his
                                            face.

Hmmm? Jimmie Bowman is the first
                                            pulled
from his seat; then, a few others before,
                                            evidently,
someone remembers . . .
                                            him.

He stumbles as they direct him
                                            offstage,
haul him to his feet , set him
                                            upright.

And, from behind the curtains,
                                            he stares
out into the chaos and smiles,
                                            gloats
while, Kash sits wide-eyed at his table
                                            sipping his wine.
