Glass Altar

Is this a chapel or a bar?
I can’t tell anymore
I’ll worship at your Glass Altar…
Just please bring me a glass of water.

Is this bedlam or is this squalor?
I can’t tell anymore
If the spirit cures a hangover…
Then I’ll stay in this chapel forever.

Are you a priest or a whore?
I can’t tell anymore
Sin is my only friend…
He’s the only thing that is consistent.

Matthew Skaggs is an author, poet, and musician based in Salt Lake City, Utah. He communes with his lizard brain daily between rounds of desperate creativity. While the things he writes about often leave him emotionally barren, they are also very sad. Hopelesesly extroverted, Matthew ends up writing poetry betwixt bouts of angry pinball, marijuana cigarettes, and shitty beer in the basement of a house venue, where he asks himself “Am I really thirty?”

Linda Matthews-Denham lives in the countryside along the Thames River in Berkshire, England. Her passion is photography, photo restoration and art history of Paris. She also works very closely with many British authors restoring images for publication.
