A Cool Head

The perturbation caused by
your bean bag with its amoeba shape shifts
makes me abhor you more.
Why do you have to keep it in the lounge of two?
Why do you have to
leave our old refrigerator grasping for an inch
of closure?

Sometimes the cool head returns to my shoulder
which I shrug, accept the shapes as they be –
random, arbitrary –
open the North window to stare at
the neighbors’ wall blocking our pane
and spend hours there for no reason.
