Doomsday

Ignoring the flutter
of crosshairs,
a careless brown bug,
for the first and last time,
is trapped in a web,
shudders in place,
peers down a long narrow tunnel,
where, in the light of the far end,
a large hairy spider
follows its shadow,
into the passageway,
scrambles forward
at eight-legged speed.
