The Value of Weeding
As people crawl down the street,
I wonder what life
once moved beneath their feet?
It was there long before
my hollyhocks bloomed,
and before daffodils grew here.
Their actions were observed
by these same stars,
which never grow old,
but have no memory,
so I still continue my work,
because weeds
will never stop growing,
and questions I can’t answer,
always disturb my weeding,
as life itself continues to flow
beyond my understanding.
