the long way around

every destination waits
with nothing but another
place to be

the heart is away on business
the soul on sick leave

so hold my hand
if you wouldn’t mind

i need something better
than what is left

to help me forget
why it’s gone.

 

Edward L. Canavan is an American poet whose work is mostly strewn about his apartment in various states of completion. Though he has previously been published in Oddball, he does not expect preferential treatment from the editors, nor is he angling for a free tshirt. He also refuses to mention in this bio that his second poetry collection entitled Protest and Isolation was released in July of 2020. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, Edward currently resides in North Hollywood, California, where he practices Buddhism and listens to Motorhead.

Edward S. Gault is a poet and fine art photographer. He lives at Mosaic Commons, a co-housing community in Berlin, Ma. He has a wife Karen, and daughter.
