Radu Lupu Went Down on a Steinway

Brahms Tragic Overture. Hammer blows, ominous strings, vaguely threatening (sad, actually).

After the last drum roll, Mozart Piano Concerto #23. Radu Lupu seizes a black grand, toes on the pedals, full beard bopping, little woodcutter hands leaping from the keys, gesturing to the orchestra, singing to the orchestra, delicate on the upper notes, gets him laid on a Steinway
every time.

 

Charles Jacobson has an abiding interest in philosophy and the arts,and lives across the river from St. Louis in Alton, Illinois, with a cat who doesn’t love him. His stories and poems have appeared in over twenty publications, radio and Story Collider.

Poet/Photographer Jennifer Matthews’ poetry has been published in Nepal by Pen Himalaya and locally by the Wilderness Retreat Writers Organization, Midway Journal, The Somerville Times, Ibbetson Street Press and Boston Girl Guide. Jennifer was nominated for a poetry award by the Cambridge Arts Council for her book of poetry Fairy Tales and Misdemeanors. Her songs have been released nationally and internationally and her photography has been used as covers for a number of Ibbetson Street Press poetry books and has been exhibited at The Middle East Restaurant, 1369 Coffeehouses, Sound Bites Restaurant in Somerville and McLean Hospital.
