Home for the Zombie Apocalypse
Today I met my father
outside the cemetery
where he was waiting
just as I knew he’d be
just as I knew where he’d been
the headstone I dodged
these last three years
the hospital ten minutes
late for his death.
Of course he said nothing
redemption an end-game tally
no film’s soundtrack swell.
