God hauls in the laundry
On laundry day a great bundle
Pulled hither and yon see
The divinely wet raiment
Which when the Lord begins
To pull it from the bag
Whips and wraps around
Dangling like great snakes
From the clothes lines
And cling to the Holy One
Sopping boa constrictors
In the swamp of tangled rope
And bleached out clothes
Blowing in the cosmic wind.
