My Country

My country ’tis of thee
You lost your sense of liberty.
Freedom’s been replaced.
Bullying behavior and isms prevail.
Justice always so fragile
Is now worn away by lies and greed.
Self righteousness rules.
Everything is done with
Extreme prejudice.

A Request Poem to Late Night Comedy Hosts

Imagine what Trump’s world would be like
If he couldn’t hear his name on any of your shows?
He expects his name to be part of the news reports.
But that can’t compare to the space you provide
When recapping his antics on late night TV.
Your jokes are the closest he’s ever been to cool.
Now sit back and imagine seeing him see himself without you!
I can see Moms Mabley and Rod Sterling smiling.
