Multiple Choices
I create art because
it is cheaper than therapy
I hate to exercise
don’t know how to sing
I create art to provoke/instigate/inspire
fall asleep/stay away
for the silence/to make noise
wage war
slap some sense into a fool
find answers
be spontaneous
be intentional
pray I create art because
I cannot help myself
Now what about you?
the would-be poem
Rushing from sleep
to the consciousness of a desk cluttered with pens and papers,
she cradles elusive memories of wondrous warmth and dimension.
But without warning her body is jolted
forcing her arms to fly open
to break the fall from sleep to awakeness
only to find…
she lost the poem again!
Janet Cormier is a painter, writes prose and poetry, and performs comedy. JC prefers different and original over pretty. She loves collecting stuff, but cleaning not so much. Janet also talks to strangers… a lot. Her column appears regularly in Oddball Magazine.
Enjoyed both poems, nice work!
