Inauguration happened.
a rare moment of joy
that birthed a calm.

And a nation found its breath.
Four years happened
and lessons were learned.

God heard our voices
over the chaos
of well orchestrated mayhem.

The nation bore
a great shame
carried by storm.

We the people stood brave,
our spirits strong,
our souls willing.

We saw ourselves,
only now able
to understand

our history
and see
our tomorrows.
