rushing from sleep to consciousness,
a desk cluttered with pens and papers,
she cradles elusive memories
of ponderous warmth and dimension.
then without warning, her body is jolted,
forcing her arms to fly open,
breaking the fall from sleep to awake-ness
only to find…she lost the poem again!
