Awake before
the alarm,

new day starts
the same,

Sounds of
morning traffic,

cars speed on
driven by

adults with
places to go,

kids walking
to school,

some race by
while others

move at a
slower pace,

enjoying freedom
before class,

anticipating
lunch break

followed by
a well deserved

escape to the
school yard,

then back to
classroom,

to books and
lessons until

it’s time
to run wild.
