A tribute to Marvin Gaye

What month is it?
Is this really November?

New England
temps gone crazy.

One day in 30s.
a few days later,

temps in 60s
and rising.

More leaves on trees
than on ground.

Weather patterns mimic
political changes

throughout country
and world.

I look up to the sky,
recall Marvin Gaye song,

“What’s Going On?”
Brother spoke truth,

saw our future
and then as now,

no one listens,
little has changed.

The ‘isms’ persist.
Is this the legacy

to be passed on
to the next generation?

Please someone tell me
what’s going on?
