Window view
of outside world.

Bright sun,
brilliant blue skies.

Pedestrians
speed walk

on bare cement
sidewalks.

Kids run,
race, walk,

shout, laugh
on the way to school.

Buses, cars
and trains

run on
schedule.

Then you open
the door,

walk ten steps
outside, reality hits.

It’s Monday
morning

and you are
walking against

brutal winter
winds and it’s

only fifteen
degrees in the sun.
