Life happens everyday,
finding kindness
when you thought
it would be impossible.

At some point,
you realized
you were loved,
that you are human.

You made good
and bad decisions.
Perhaps you judged
yourself too harshly,

denying yourself
the forgiveness
that you granted
to others.

Always demanding
more of yourself,
Wanting to cast
some light somewhere.

Not always
being yourself
is often enough.

You gave as best
you could even
when you were
warned to leave.

How could you leave?
There was still
so much to do,
so many in need.

This is how
life happens,
finding self
in surprising places,

among the dreams
offered in a universe
where casting shadow
can produce light.
