Trying to keep the inner adult child in check.
An overtired, ranting raging brat
wanting to hang out with the other kids,
in dire need of attention.
Bored, lonely, obnoxious know-it-all
forced to exist in that place of irony
depicted so accurately in vintage “Twilight Zone.”

Reliving puberty as an adult is a bitch.
The dream of adulthood abrupty disrupted.
The memory of being that smartass kid
who warned the world what you would do
when you grew up, eager to assert
the right to stay up late.
To do what I want when I want!

Now reduced to having a curfew.
What happened?
This Now was not part
of yesterday’s plan.
This is the NOW
that will bring us
to your tomorrows.
