A TRIBUTE (out of sorts) for Twenty-Twenty-Four

We stumbled through twenty twenty-four we argued plenty
and thats for sure. Some took aim, wits and science at the ready,
others, bereft of science, tried their hands though CLEARLY SHAKEY
          and UNSTEADY.

There was an election with some twists and turns, and well at the ballot
          box,
Will we, never learn? THE REPUBS are playing shenanigans with voting
          rolls once again.
Will they NEVER get enough of JIGGERING the System, you know, among
          friends?
Where’s the folks with integrity, we certainly have missed them.
If they jump out of the closet now, we’d probably have kissed’m.

Why the heck, as if immorality was actually enforced.
Is there nothing to resist ‘m? Where’s this lead to a national divorce?
They ran a tired fellow, although he deserved a chance to finish.
And what of his opponent then, sure a felon brutish- creepy and
          diminished.
Biden slightly older yes, tired sure, his faculties not at their peak.
But what was he up against? This would-be TYRANT, BLOWHARD
and BULLY CREEP?

But at debate he was bested, by a bully and a liar,
Sorry no one ever found the time to say to TRUMP,
“LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE!”
Nothing that you say, has the slightest whiff of truth.
Why if you saw a tiny child, you’d prolly steal their Baby Ruth(tm).

We learned that the BOEING Builded planes, are put together lamely,
And sure as hell, don’t sit next to a door, or you might RUSH OUT – Very
          much the Samely.

A BARGE BUMPED the Bridge in Baltimore town, and threw folks in the
          drink.
You’d figure a BIG SHIP heading to a major port would pause for just a
          moment and think?
WAS IT RADAR? that had fallen asleep? or was the CAPTAIN MISSING?
Either way the bridge fell down and safety she may’ve leaned over, but it
          seems
She certainly wasn’t Listing.

MASSACRE’s the Order of the day, but evidently BiBi can do no wrong,
He still hasn’t had his day in court, he wears his genocidal tactics like a
          smug sarong.
The west’s still arming Israel, while they’re ethnic cleansing Palestine.
And yet my friends everybody knows the lesson taught by Hitler shows.
No they don’t use ovens, they BLOW UP HOSPITALS, Power stations,
          Sewers and Schools,
and yet Israeli’s NATO ALLIES, pretend they still abide by civilized
          nation’s rules.

DUMPY TRUMPY parades through court, mimes his scowl, he thinks it’s
          work.
AGAIN and AGAIN, the charges mount, as he lies, denies and whimpering
          cries,
but somehow, he still keeps his followers along for his riotous crime
          spree ride.
Propaganda helps, and spineless fools, it seems he knows the media
and where they hide their profit jewels.

SCHOOL SHOOTINGS STILL PROLIFERATE, the GUN BUSINESS IS
          BOOMING
So now in classrooms every day, there’s shadowy figures LOOMING.
It’s a shame, so many kids must die, but hey, our profits are skyhigh!
But if an executive in BIG INSURANCE finds a client
who somehow lacks the cash endurance to stifle his pains with their
          EXECUTIVES on BOTTOM LINE,
Now we may question FREE FLOATING SHOOTERS, LOOTING
          the firing line.
But daring to question the massacres of students is certainly rude
and JUST PLAIN OUTTA LINE!

HIMMICANES, HURRICANES look how they spin and dance,
tripping merrily across the globe from POLYNESIA to FRANCE.
FLOODING and MUDDING the cars tossed like toys,
and will only be exacerbated, by the hasty rush of the GREEDY NEEDY
          PETROLEUM BOYS.

DRILL BABY DRILL is again heard in the land.
And it shan’t be very long before there’s more Petroleum Wars
than you can STAND.
The VP Got the NOD, the party spurned and turned away from Biden.
And, was it me, but it seemed their support for the VP was just a tad
          pale?
Even though her opponent had barely escaped incarceration and
          JAIL????
Was their effort half-hearted? Or was it all about race, well my friends
          either way,
SEXUAL BIAS and RACISM in this country is still an F’ing disgrace.

And all year long the RUSSIANS pounded Ukraine and the Israelis
          DECIMATED Palestine
yet somehow in this great big world, despite our civilized ways, this is
          not a crime.

PEACE is AT HAND!

After serving under Jack Horkheimer as a planetarium operator at the Miami Space-Transit Planetarium, he left to begin traveling with Lumist Kenvin Lyman, whose show Dazzleland Studios traveled across America. Richard later worked as a Laserist with LASERIUM and Laser Productions, served as a technical producer for the festival company PACE Concerts, and later as operations Manager and Senior Producer at WWHP and WTCN-TV in Stuart Florida.

Richard writes for Theatre, TV, radio, and the web. He published two short story collections, Two Small Windows, in a Pair of Mirror Doors, and Between the Silences. Followed by his poetry collection 7370 Allen Drive and the recently released STONE POETRY. Richard also produces “POETS of the East,” a televised webcast featuring poets from across the globe.
