Trees

Trees are free.
But they can’t move about.

Their leaves weeping.
        as one follows another
            to the ground.
Are they tears of joy
              or
      of pain?
      Perhaps both
        Perhaps neither.

 

R. Wayne Nickerson was a poet, artist and actor in the north shore area of Massachusetts. He passed away in September of this year.
