Trump vs Biden

Trump:

That doddery dude with the stammer

Rehearsed for a week in the crammer.

Unforced was his error:

My un-rehearsed terror

Prevailed—he’s who I got to hammer!

Biden:

Bow out? Not a chance. Stop denying,

If barely, my flag is still flying.

Don’t cave—or we’ll suffer

Electing that duffer

Named Donald who’s constantly lying!

Mike Mesterton-Gibbons is a Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Florida State University who has returned to live in his native England. His acrostic sonnets have appeared in Autumn Sky Poetry Daily, Better Than Starbucks, The Creativity Webzine, Current Conservation, the Ekphrastic Review, Grand Little Things, Light, Lighten Up Online, MONO, the New Verse News, Oddball Magazine, Rat’s Ass Review, the Satirist, the Washington Post and WestWard Quarterly. The poem was prompted by articles in the Guardian and Daily Mail: “Defiant Biden resists call to drop out as campaign surrogates maintain support” and “Biden, 81, seen for the first time in SEVEN DAYS as he prepares for debate with Trump: Joe leaves Camp David after a week for most pivotal showdown of his career.”
