Alley Cat
Crackhead does kickflips.
His girlfriend, barefoot, walks on tiptoe,
like an ethereal toddler, hairbrush in hand,
cawing to her partner in the camouflage pants.
Duke and duchess of the shared pedestrian zone.
The woman in the black cap sells copies of ‘The Big Issue.’
The bigger issue is the 18 year old in a suit,
beer stolen from the bar at 6pm on a Wednesday.
He’s comedic, rite of passage.
His friends ogle passing families and office workers in transit.
Like a parody of a Harwood poem I sit on a bench.
This is all happening next to the swanky ice cream parlour,
straight out of a Wes Anderson film.
